GNOBS has a very special guest artist this month. Arthur Joura, curator of the North Carolina Arboretum will present us with a power point lecture of the world class bonsai under his care on Friday January 25th. This will be Mr. Joura's first visit to the Greater New Orleans Bonsai Society. Mr. Joura has been involved with bonsai for many years and often conducts workshops all over the country. He has a vast knowlage of bonsai and the lecture he will present will be full of information that we can use to better our own collection.
Arthur will also host a "bring your own tree" workshop the following day, Saturday January 26th. A bring your own tree workshop is a great way to improve one of your bonsai. We all have at least one tree in which we are unsure of how to take it to the next level. This is a chance to take a good bonsai and with Mr. Joura's help, improve it's design. As of this post, we still have several workshops spots open. Mr. Joura will conduct two workshops, one in the AM and one in the afternoon. All club members are welcome as SILENT abservers to both workshops at no charge. This is a great chance to see many different types of bonsai material being worked on and improved at one time. If you would like to sign up for the workshop, please contact Gerald Nolan at 504-884-8929 Workshops are filled on a first come basis.
So please join me in giving Mr. Joura a real New Orleans welcome by saveing the date and attending this month's Program!
