Program: Johnny Martinez Competition 7:00pm
3 Divisions (Novice 1-5 years) (Intermediate 6-14 years)
(Advanced 15+ years) All members are asked to bring in their best trees (limit 2) for a friendly competition. (Note: Only SINGLE trees - NO GROUPS) All members present will get a vote in each Division for their favorite trees. Winners in the 3 categories will be displayed at the Auction. We ask that you not bring in a tree from a workshop done in the past year. Time permitting, Sean Smith will provide a constructive critique with suggestions for further development of the trees.

Program: Bonsai display in Japanese tokonoma Presentation by Sean Smith 7:00pm
With a passion for Bonsai and Suiseki for over 20 years, and an extensive background in carpentry, Sean took the two, put them together and started his own business in 1994. He makes Bonsai display tables, and carves daiza for renowned Bonsai and Suiseki enthusiasts all over the world and has lectured on Suiseki as well as Bonsai in the United States and Europe, and is internationally known for his skills in Bonsai and Suiseki.

Program: Carve your Own Root Stand workshops with Sean Smith 9:00am and 1:00pm. Sign up for the morning OR afternoon session. Workshop cost ($160) includes wooden blanks partially started by Sean (and yes - anyone can do it). This should be a very different and fun workshop - and you walk away with a useful and personal bonsai stand. Sign up and pay early to guarantee a spot. These workshops will be opened to other LA clubs!
